Gaslight Theater auditions are typically open to all .

Comedies and Dramas

An audition for a comedy or drama will usually require "cold readings". This means reading from the script without preparing beforehand. Some directors also do improvisations or other exercises as part of the audition.

Musicals

If you are auditioning for a musical, you will most often be asked to sing a song you have prepared. Pick something you know well, and would be comfortable singing as a solo. It does not have to be a song from the show. Bring a copy of the sheet music for the accompanist to play.

If you don't have sheet music or haven't prepared a song, often the music director will have some popular music to pick from. Even if you aren't auditioning for a solo part, the music director will still need to hear your voice. Be prepared to be asked to sing something.

Casting

You will always hear from Gaslight whether or not you have been given a part. If you are not cast, we hope you'll consider joining the crew, or helping in some other way.
